Sales pipeline timing planner

Deals you sign next quarter start as meetings booked this quarter. Put in your targets, how long each stage takes and your conversion rates, and see when every stage has to happen and what you need to be doing this week.

  • The date you need to start booking meetings for each quarter

  • A timeline of every stage, with how many you need each week

  • A pipeline calendar that adds up every quarter you are working on at once

How to use it

  1. Enter a target for each of the next five quarters and your average deal size.

  2. Set how many days each stage takes, from booked meeting to signature.

  3. Set your conversion rates and the share of meetings your SDR books.

  4. Pick a quarter to see its deadlines, then check this week and the months ahead.

How the numbers work

Deals are assumed to sign evenly through each quarter. Every stage happens a set number of days before the next, so each stage has a window: the quarter itself, shifted back by the time left in the sales cycle.

The number needed at each stage uses the same backwards funnel as Know Your Pipeline. Because quarters overlap, at any moment you are booking meetings for one quarter while running demos for another, so the calendar adds every quarter's activity together.

Questions

When should I start building pipeline for next quarter?

Work back from the quarter by your sales cycle. With a 74-day cycle from booked meeting to signature, meetings for a quarter starting on 1 October need to start landing in mid-July. The planner works this out for your own cycle.

Why does sales cycle length matter so much?

The longer the cycle, the earlier each stage has to happen. A long cycle means this quarter is largely decided by pipeline created last quarter, so falling behind on meetings shows up in results months later.

What if the window for booking meetings has already closed?

Then new deals that quarter have to come from meetings already booked, or from deals that move faster than usual. The planner flags this and shows the next quarter worth filling.

Is it accurate?

It is a planning model. Real cycles vary and some deals slip, so treat the dates as the latest sensible start and build in headroom, especially on booking meetings.

Pipeline arriving too late?

Most missed quarters were lost a quarter earlier. We help teams set pipeline targets, reporting and SDR rhythm so next quarter is in the diary before this one ends.
